On Mallorca's northern coast, Alcúdia is a spring-training staple with the flat plains of Es Pla on one side and the Serra de Tramuntana on the other. The Cap de Formentor lighthouse road and the climb to Lluc are signature rides, all under reliably warm island sun.

Costa Blanca

Altea offers relaxed Costa Blanca riding with the Coll de Rates and the inland Guadalest valley on the doorstep and the sea always in view. Rolling terrain, warm winters and quiet back roads make it a mellower alternative to nearby Calpe.

Granada sends you uphill almost from the first pedal stroke, with Alto de Hazallanas and Puerto El Purche waiting on the slopes above the city and the road to the Sierra Nevada ridge line beyond them. Mild winters in the valley, snow on the peaks and a lively student city with good food make it a base for riders who come for the climbing.

Canary Islands

Puerto de la Cruz

On Tenerife's north coast, Puerto de la Cruz is the classic base for the long haul up El Teide — over 2,000 m of continuous climbing from the sea to Spain's highest road, at 2,356 m. Volcanic switchbacks, year-round warmth and the island's altitude draw pro teams for winter and pre-season camps.

Santander opens onto the Cantabrian interior, where the roads tilt up quickly towards Puerto de Alisas, Puerto de El Portillón and the long haul of Portillo de Lunada, with Alto de la Estranguada and Alto del Caracol adding sharper and gentler alternatives. Mild Atlantic air, well-surfaced valley roads and a compact seafront city with plenty of places to eat and stay make it a comfortable base for riding year-round.
